There are some changes with Windows 8 over Windows 7. One is the command prompt. You need to run as admin to ping a computer for one. Native interface for Windows 8 (metro), second.

Hi Niles,
we use .Net API to send ping requests. This functionality should work without changes in Windows 8.

As for Metro version of VNC Manager, as of today we have no plans for such version.
