I have been having this issue since I updated to the latest version of VNC Manager.

If I restart a computer while connected to it, usually the auto-reconnect feature kicks in and once the machine is back up it will automatically reconnect. Lately VNC manager has been crashing when restarting machines or when I lose connection to a machine. I've tested a bit and this is reproducible.

Ex.
1. Remote to a machine using the latest TightVNC
2. Unplug the switch the remote machine is connected to.
3. Wait a few seconds and plug the switch back in.
4. VNC manager crashes with the following error:

Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name:   BEX
  Application Name:   VNCManager.exe
  Application Version:   5.5.24.0
  Application Timestamp:   4c9c90d3

  Fault Module Version:   3.1.3.0

I noticed this issue was similar so I tried the same fix by downloading and swapping the scvncctrl.dll. The same problem happens.

Any suggestions?

Hi Nick,
I've been trying to reproduce the crash for some times today but the application didn't crash.

May I ask you if you could try to reproduce the problem on another computer?

We will be releasing 5.5.25.0 build today. It contains a fix for a ViewerX crash bug. I'm not sure if it's the same bug you have been hitting, but please try the new build and let us know how it works.

My supervisor also experienced the issue. Both of us are using Windows 7 Professional in a domain environment.

I upgraded to the latest build (5.5.25.0) this morning and VNC Manager no longer crashes! I do receive the following error message when following the example I gave in the OP.

VNC server address: CPU Name/IP
System stream exception: read: Unknown error (10053)

I'm pretty sure it is just an alert? But regardless, I can hit the OK button and it starts trying to reconnect instead of crashing.

Thanks for the new build!

The "VNC Server address" line is supposed to show address of the server. It should be the same as the "Computer address" of the registered computer.
I just want to double check...your registered computer has a correct value in the "Computer address" yet the message box is showing "CPU Name/IP" text?

Here is how the error look on my computer:

I was just using a general reference. Sorry for the confusion.
