"Failed to find MAC address. Check that server address is correct and the server's firewall allows ARP requests to pass" Receive this error when trying to update a mac address within the properties screen across a VPN WAN connection. The system is XP sp2. This function works on the local LAN but not WAN. I spoke with our Managed VPN provider and they do not filter anything going across. Any ideas to look for to solve this issue. This also causes us to not be able to use wake on lan functionality to the remote pc's.

I would say I'm 100% certain that this is not a VNC Manager's bug. Since implementation of this feature is a single call to a Win32 API function. In the next build of the v3.5 beta, this message will include an error code returned by the SendARP function (this function is used to retrieve MAC addresses) and may be this error code will help you to figure out what is wrong.

I too am having issues with this message...
(Failed to find MAC address. Error code: 31. Check that computer address is correct and the computers's firewall allows ARP requests to pass through.)
I am not sure where to start with this. All firewalls in our office are disabled via GPO. Any other ideas why I cant get mac addresses? When I scan with Im sure i am just missing something simple here.
