How do I disable the RDP login popup in VNC Manager (Enterprise Edition)?
In essence, I need to be able to set this setting found in the Microsoft's mstsc.exe's %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\default.rdp:
prompt for credentials:i:0
But for the VNC Manager product. I am using v5.5.26.0 and can't find anywhere this is configured (ideally for the Global Settings or at least for the Default Settings).
Thanks.

In the beta 6.0.28.0 64-bits, this setting doesn't seem to be taking effect.
I cleared it in the global settings, as well as at the computer specific settings but the login prompt keeps on poping up.

This doesn't work in the 6.0.31.0 64-bits GA release either. It was working in the 6.0.26.0 64-bits beta.
Being able to turn off the prompt so I can see the actual login screen is very important because we have many Windows servers in multiple Active Directories so I can't tell which domain to use to login. When I am presented with the login screen, it tells me which domain I need to login whereas the prompt requires me to know the target domain and specify that as part of the login userid field.
Thanks.

I think I've figured it out. In addition to checking the "RDP \ Settings \ Always prompt for credentials" checkbox, you also need to UN-check the "RDP \ TS Gateway Server \ Use my TS Gateway credentials for the remote computer" checkbox.
Please give it a try.

No luck. Installing the latest version 6.0.34.0 doesn't change the behavior either.
Let me add some more details:
1) this behavior is only seems when going from my Win7 to a Win2008 or Win2008 R2 server that is part of a domain (this is where my problem is with)
2) this behavior is not seen when RDP into a Win2008 or 2008 R2 that is NOT part of a domain (settings work as intended)
3) this behavior is not seen when RDP into a Win2003 or Win2003 R2 server, whether it is part or not of a domain (settings work as intended)
4) this behavior is not seen when using the Microsoft "Remote Desktop Connection" tool version 6.1.7601 and the "My Documents\default.rdp" file containing "prompt for credetials:1:0" (setting works as intended)
Finally, in regard to the TS Gateway Credentials, I can't uncheck the "use my TS Gateway credentials for the remote computer" unless the setting is set to "use these TS Gateway server settings" option which I don't since mine is set to "Do not use a TS Gateway server". I tried to select "use these TS Gateway server settings" option then uncheck the "user my TDS gateway credentials for the remote computer" -- at which point switching back to "do not use a TS Gateway server" or "Automatically detect TS Gateway server settings" option keep the credential unchecked but no behavior change. I also tried using the "use these TS Gatway server settings" option with a blank server inputbox but no luck either.

There has been many releases (I'm currently running v6.5.9.0 x64 Enterprise Edition on Win7 SP1 x64 Enterprise) but the problem still persists:
1) when using VNC Manager, with RDP settings of "Always prompt for credentials" unchecked, any RDP connection triggers the VNC login popup prompt. Note that I'm mostly using the global and/or default settings rather than setting up individual computer settings, and TS Gateway setings are explicitly set to "Do not use a TS Gateway server".
2) when using the Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection, with "prompt for credentials:i:0" in the default.rdp file, any RDP connection let me conect to the remote server' secure logon screen.
Again, the main reason that I need to see the remote secure logon screen is to determine the correct Active Directory domain for which to specify my username. An alternative solution would be for the VNC login popup to provide the list of Active Directory domains that the remote server trusts.

Hi, your Default.rdp file has EnableCredSspSupport property set to 0. This is what allows bypassing of the credentials prompt. The side effect is that it also disables Network Level Authentication support in Vista/Windows7/W2K8, which is a bad thing. Network Level Authentication requires credentials to be provided by the client before a session is created on the server side. The following article has some additional information about this problem: |
