I am planning to manage lots of PCs with my application.
Some of PCs have multiple monitors attached.

Does VNC ActiveX (ViewerX / ServerX) support multiple monitors?
Then I'd like to buy those components.

Thanks in advance.

All existing VNC server implementation provide very limited multi-monitor support. And only UltraVNC Server allows switching between monitors. But, as usual, UltraVNC exposes multi-monitor support via very idiotic API. Which basically consist of one command – switch to next available monitor.

ViewerX supports this feature via SwitchMultiMonitor() method. You might also want to use IScVxCapabilities.SwitchMultiMonitor to check if the remote server supports switching between monitors.

I am testing ViewerX connected to SeverX where ServerX is on a machine with dual monitors. ViewerX displays them as a single monitor (which is  OK), but can't control the remote machine running ServerX. The mouse moves, but no clicks are  received on the remote machine. Is there some setting that I am missing to make dual monitors work?

Thank you,
Rudy

Rudy,
it sounds that either ViewerX has ViewOnly property set to True or ServerX is not accepting remote input because DisableLocalInputs property is set to True.

ServerX is running on a computer with multiple monitors attached shouldn't affect mouse behavior.

I'm pretty sure it's a problem with ServerX. I am running it from your demo page (http://www.s-code.com/products/serverx/webvnc.aspx) on Window's 7 with dual monitors. I can connect to that machine with either ViewerX or UltraVNC client and can see the remote screens fine as one monitor, but can't control the mouse, nor the keyboard with either client. If I run Server X on a single monitor machine using the same page (http://www.s-code.com/products/serverx/webvnc.aspx)  I can control the machine using both ViewerX and UltraVNC client.  If I use the RealVNC server on the dual screen machine, ViewerX can control both keyboard and mouse and both monitors show up as a single screen - so it's definitely a ServerX problem.

Our users will most definitely use dual monitors so as it stands this won't work for us, otherwise it would have been perfect. Please let me know if you update this.

Thank you,
Rudy

I've done some further testing. I set up my own ServerX page that was running on the dual screen machine. When I connected to it using ViewerX (or UltraVNC client), I still couldn't control the mouse or the keyboard UNLESS it was the on the page that had the server running. I could click on items on that page in IE and enter text on that page, but couldn't click on anything outside that page.

Hope this helps your troubleshooting.

I've been able to reproduce the issue. The good news is that it should be resolved by the end of this month.
We are currently adding support for SecureVnc v2.3 to ViewerX. Once this feature is implemented we will turn our attention to ServerX.

Great news! I'm moving ahead with testing using the trial components, but assuming this works, I will be recommending your product.
