Hello,
First of all, sorry for my english ! I updated my computers list (40) by pressing "CTRL+ MAJ + U" (Scan for installed VNC distrib). I got 5 results. On these ones I updated by pressing "CTRL + U" (Check VNC/RDP/SSH server status).
OK? Here is the result :
***
***
The 2nd one and the 4th one are servers and get a denied access message. That's quite normal.
The 1st status icon is VNC. I'm actually working on the 1st PC in the list, as we can see, a repackaged VNC install has been pushed on this workstation. The service is running, I can see "Winvnc" process in Tskmgr.
Why is the icon red ?
My configuration : VNC Manager 5.5.21.1 + Win XP Pro SP3
Thanks. Best regards.

Why is the icon red ? I've two ideas:
1) VNC server is blocked by a firewall. Ctrl+Shift+U command uses WMI to access a remote computer. So it could be that the firewall on the remote PC has WMI (RPC) ports open, but not VNC Try to run telnet.exe REMOTE_COMPUTER_IP 5900 If VNC server is up and running you will see a text line starting with RFB XXX.XXX
2) VNC status updater couldn't establish connection to a remote computer within timeout period. Try to increase the timeout via Tools \ Options \ Server Status Check \ Scan timeout.

Hello,
1) I get a connection error. Telnet is disabled/not installed on every PC, as far as I remember.
2) No need to increase timeout, the PC is running both client and server ...
It still displays the wrong way ....
Should telnet be enabled on the host to get a correct result ?
What else ?
Thanks a lot.

telnet xxxx 5900 will establish connection to a port on which VNC server is listening.
If VNC server is there you will see a handshake string RFB XXX.XXX
But of cause you won't be able to use the telnet client. It's just a convenient way to check if the VNC server is not blocked by a firewall.

Hello,
Windows firewall is disabled on every PC, replaced by Kaspersky Anti-virus. VNC seems not to be blocked cuz I can connect to the host from another PC on the network ...
What settings should I check ? Should I configure any exclusion rule in KAV or whatever ?
Thanks a lot. Keep trying to make it better ...

Are you able to connect to the computers in question via the VNC Manager's builtin VNC viewer?

Yes I'm able to connect to the host via VNC Manager's Viewer. No problem in View-only or normal mode. That's why this display bug pisses me off. Host is running WinVNC and is reachable. I use a DSM plugin : SecureVNC. PCs are in a domain. Default port has been changed : 9500
Any idea ?
Thanks.

SecureVNC - this is the reason. Currently status updater may not show the status correctly if connection uses MCRS4 or SecureVNC plug-in. This functionality should be implemented in one of the upcoming builds.
