When I setup a dynamic search folder and scan between 2 IP address ranges, the name and address column always displays the IP address, I would like this to display the IP address and the NetBIOS name of the remote compuer, much like the command nbtstat -a (remote IP address) would give me.

I have the "resolve IP adresses to host name" checkbox checked and the "set computer name to resolved hostname" checked and tried a mixture of both but it always shows me just the IP addresses in both columns.

Am I missing something obvious?

Hi Bob,
please run a simple test. From a command line run the following command:

ping -a IP_ADDRESS

where IP_ADDRESS is any of the addresses with-in the IP range you are trying to scan.

I'm curious to know if ping would be able to resolve the DNS name. I've a feeling that it won't be able to.

ping - a : also returns IP address without a computer name....

Which confirms my theory that the problem is caused by something else other than the VNC Manager Wink
