Hi,I searched the manual and forums, but didn't find anything about this. I couldn't find a way to set VNC Manager to always use the WMI method of network scanning so that the MAC address is always returned, even on computer not in the LAN, but for those that might be on other virtual LANS, subnets, or in VPN remote offices.

Hi Scott, there is no way to do it. Not in the current version at least. The status updater always use ARP method. I think there was a post in the forum explaining why. Basically this is due to the WMI method being by the order of magnitude slower than the ARP method. And the WMI method require you to know the login credentials to a remote computer. http://www.s-code.com/kayako/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=27&nav=0,1,9But actually how often a computers MAC address changes? Not often at all, unless you replace its Ethernet card. So it's pretty much enough to scan MAC addresses just once. To do so you could use the Query MAC Address window and select to use the WMI method.
