Hello, long time no see.  I wonder if you remember me?

Anyways, here is input on the latest VNC Manager.  I really like how the program has grown.

1) BUG: Installer fails.  Perhaps its becuase I have Vista x64.  The EXE runs, extracts the MSI and then closes with no errors. The program is not installed and no errors are in the event log.

I was able to search the temps for the msi extracted for VNC Mananger.  I ran that msi and it installed fine.

2) BUG: Within a minute or so the first time I connect by RDP to any PC, the session disconnects itself.  I can reconnect to the existing session easily, and it seems never to happen again.

3) Active Directory integration ROCKS.  REQUEST:  Please create a setting to store Default NT Login Credentials per Computer Group that is used for all tasks that use nt logons (event viewer, device manager, etc.)

I know it stores templates.  All all that does is add 3 more clicks instead of typing my password myself with a keyboard.  Much more, if I run an action on several computers, it asks me to type the same credentials for each one!

I would like it to use a chosen template that I set on a Computer Group. It would then be used by default for all actions that require NT logins on all computers inside that group.

This way I don't type in the same password or make the same 3 or 4 clicks 1 hundred times...

Also as a subnote: On the window that asks for the credentials, I would like to see some notes when authentication fails (I type in a bad password or something).  As now, all it does is close and reopen, close and reopen, not saying why.  I kept typing in the same username and password 10 times before I realized it wasn't accepting what I was typing. A simple, 'Access Denied, check login' would let me know why the window kept comming back up.  Or 'Remote computer not responding.' may happen at times.

I hope those thngs help.  And thank you for this wonderful tool!

Bryan

It turns out that perhaps it does automatically try to use the stored credentials.

I just did not know becuase some pcs (for errors of thier own) are turning down connections, but I did not realize becuase VNC Manager does not tell me anything except reopen the login box.

I was always assuming it was not attemping to use the stored credentials.  In anycase, some error info when attemping to use the credentials would be helpful.

Does that make sense?

Bryan

Bryan,
thanks for the feedback!
What you said does make sense. We will look into this issue and try to make the login dialog behavior more user friendly.

Bug: Updaing status of a Computer Group and then opening a domain under 'Entire Network' that represents the same computers in the Computer Group- freezes VNC Manager. A windows error report was sent in.

Request: If I choose to install VNC on a pc inside a Computer Group with a vnc password already specified, let the Install Wizard use my specifed password by default, with the option to specify a different one if needed.  Might was well do the same for other things such as VNC ports, install credentials, etc.

Request: Option to import a list of PCs from Active Directory.  Perhaps even the ability to Sync a folder to certain OUs.

Request: For the quick install of VNC some message saying weather it succeeded or failed would be good.  Maybe in the action pane.

Thats all for now..

Thank you.

Fixed in the final 4.0.10.0 build

Computers Registration Wizard allows to import AD computers, it can import all computers or computers belonging to a certain OU.
Sync feature would be nice indeed, and most probably will be added in the next release.

Right now you can review content of the log window, which will show Success/Failure information. But this is not really user friendly, so this definitely will be improved in future builds.
