Hi
I wondered if there is a way to automatically fetch the computer description. I really don't wanna put it in manually if I can avoid it.
Thanks in advance,
Martijn

With the current versions there are two ways to fetch computers descriptions, but both of them work with Active Directory computers only.
1) Computers Registration wizard can fetch descriptions of an AD based computers. 2) The same is true for Dynamic Search Folders set up to scan Active Directory domain. At the moment there is no way to fetch description for a registered computer, but this is one of a features that could be implemented in future versions.

| Pardon my ignorance, but I cannot find anywhere to fetch the computer description automatically when updating a dynamic search folder from active directory.. We have information stored in the computer descriptions that I'd like to have included in the listing. Can I suggest something else also - a column in the computer listing that will show the installed operating system and service pack level.

We have information stored in the computer descriptions that I'd like to have included in the listing. The DSF scan fetches a computer's description from his Active Directory record. Most probably you have computers descriptions set in a computer's System Properties dialog, bit their AD records don't have any description information entered. Can I suggest something else also - a column in the computer listing that will show the installed operating system and service pack level. We are planning to add some simple inventory features. So I’m sure such columns will appear when we start working on this feature.
