Hi All,
Is there a way of setting the default VNC settings (ideally a profile but at least the default VNC password) for newly discovered computers (in the 'dynamic search folders').
I know you can change the 'global' and 'default' settings in options > default, but this seems to relate to only registered computers, NOT ones in the dynamic search folders....
We have 40+ sites in our enterprise, most of which are laptop users moving between sites. For this reason we didn't want to use registered computer groups.
It's a pain to have to enter the password in every time we connect to them.
I'm also aware you can select all computers in a group, go into the properties and set it that way, but it would be nice to have the default settings in options, that automatically apply to these computers.
thanks in advance,
Graeme Lucas
Regards,
Graeme Lucas

Graeme, we will be adding ability to inherit scanned computers settings from their DSF folder in upcoming v4.0. Most probably this feature will be released in soon to be released Beta 2.

| Hi Guys, I've just installed the new version 4.0.2b but still cannot get the 'inheritance' options to work. I deleted all the 'registered computers' group, as well as any previously scanned computers from 'dynamic search folders'. I changec the inheritance options on the dynamic search folder to inherit from the global settings, then made sure my global settings defaults was set (in particular the default VNC password and colour depth). When I scanned for new computers, it still doesn't apply the global settings, and when I double-click to launch VNC viewer, it still prompts me for a password!! To double check my settings, I right clicked on a newly scanned computers in dynamic search folders. It's properties is set to use settings from 'parent group folder properties'. The parent group folder, ie the dynamic search folder has it's default inheritance to 'use global settings'. The global setting has definately got the correct password set (Was set up and working for registered computers), and the bit depth is set to force 8 bit. Yet it still doesn't work! It still prompts me for a password and uses all available colours! HELP!

Graeme Lucas

| Also to clarify, by global settings, I'm refering to Options>Defaults>Edit Global Settings.... That whole page is referring to registered computers only, but I cannot find any other place to set global settings!

What can I say... Shame on us! Apparently there is a bug in the DSF settings implementation. We have fixed the bug, and the fix will be included in the next week public build. I'm sorry for the inconveniences.
