When trying to install SmartCode RealVNC 4.0 on any client using the deployment wizard, it's looking for an uninstall reg key and failing. Processing uninstall tasks for ****. Installing VNC distribution: SmartCode RealVNC 4.0 Establishing connection to: \\***\ADMIN$ Return code: 0 Copying installation file to: \\***\ADMIN$\realvnc4_install.exe Starting installer. Return code: 0 Checking uninstall registry value presence: Uninstall\{5EA90E64-2110-4421-AFF2-4962FBE24A48} Value not found. Finished processing uninstall tasks. I didn't instruct it to un-install anything, and there is no VNC currently installed on this PC. I am able to install TightVNC, but I need to use RealVNC.

Max, the Wizard is not trying to uninstall it. The reason it looks for Uninstall\{5EA90E64-2110-4421-AFF2-4962FBE24A48} is to ensure that RealVNC/TightVNC installation completed successfully. And presence of Uninstall\xxxx value is a sign that everything went Ok. From your message I'm not sure, was RealVNC installed successfully or not? Can you please clarify?

No, it did not install on the client at all. The deployment said "Failed Unknown error" or something, and the log is what I pasted above.

And TightVNC installs just fine on the same PC? The only reason I can think at the moment, is that this PC has native RealVNC distribution already installed. If it's not, can you check that RealVNC installation ddirectory has been created and VNC files has been copied by the installer?

There was no VNC installed on that system. We uninstalled 3.3.3, trying to install 4.0

Can you please try to install RealVNC on this computer without VNC Manager, just in an old fashioned way, by logging into it and starting the installer. The RealVNC installation package can be found in VNC Manager installation directory (C:\Program Files\SmartCode\VNC Manager Enterprise), the file name is: realvnc4_install.exe

But that isn't the solution.... Isn't the point of this tool to deploy to multiple computers without touching them?

Sure it's not. The reason I asked you is because I'm trying to figure out what might be wrong and why remoteinstallation has failed. And if manual installations fails too, it might show some message boxes with debug information, which could help us to solve the problem.

Yury,
I might make sure that when the installer checks for the registry key it doesn't error out if it finds one. He/she said that they uninstalled 3.3.3 so it might have left some old reg keys in there.
