This happens on all our clients... RealVNC 4.0 does not install, but TightVNC does.

I have removed all VNC 3.3.3 reg keys and serviced. Would it be possible to have a Un-install WinVNC 3.3.3 feature?

Here is what I get when trying to run the RealVNC 4 installer manually on a test machine:

Error 1406: Could not write value AcceptBell to key HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/RealVNC/VNCViewer4. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

I ran this file as a local Admin, so there should not be any access issues.

Max,

I think I got the problem worked out and Yury should be sending you a fixed package soon.

Just to make sure that I understand where the bug arises I would like to know if you were installing the viewer or not?

The way I can see this would only error if you were installing the viewer.  I just want to know to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Thanks,

Adam

Max,
with Adams valuable help we were able to fix the problem. Can you please download updated RelaVNC4 installer and check if it is working for you. If it does, we will upload a new build of VNC Manager then.

RealVNC4 installer can be downloaded from:

I made a MSIpackage fo VNC 4.0, which we just put into a GPO on all of our networks when we install them. IMHO this is more effective because any new PC that is installed automatically gets VNC installed, with the password set etc.

The deployment wizard was mainly made for people who don't have this option.  But I am glad that you are able to get it to work for you.  Take a look under the downloads freebies section and see if the adm templates work for you.  I'm not quite sure if they work with Realvnc4
