Another feature that would improve SmartCode would be the ability to push web page. If the chat feature could be tied into SmartCode so I could put a link on my web site for users that need help, that would be great.

RE: UltraVNC

Eather have UltraVNC have all those features when it comes out or other things... I know that you have a tight schedule but it is just one more thing that will help your company with its software..

RE: UltraVNC

Well since RealVNC source code is closed it's gonna be hard to implement these features.

We probably can implements the second one - "usernames and passwords of up to 256 characters". Since we can sniff at traffic and get an idea about how this feature is implemented.
But security features, they are impossible to implement without RealVNC help.

I guess it won't make it to the v3.0 release. Since we planned a lot already and we are on very tight schedule. But we will try to talk with RealVNC guys, and if they will be so kind to provide us with details on security features implementation, then it will be implemented for sure.

RE: UltraVNC

Server Authentication uses 2048-bit RSA keys to verify identity.

Viewer Authentication supports both usernames and passwords of up to 256 characters each.

Secure Communication with 128-bit AES—the experts' choice for high performance encryption.

RE: UltraVNC

Can you please tell exactly in what VNC Ent. features you are interested in ?

RE: UltraVNC

Is it possible to have Features of VNC Enterprise Edition in the next release of 3.0?

RE: UltraVNC

That is fine... I am glad to hear that you aren't going to be publishing them but keep up the good work since this is something that we all need and I know that your product is the best on the internet and and I look foward for you to implement the features of UltraVNC and everthing that it includes. I would also look at bundling up the encription plugins for ultravnc and as many as you can bundle for extensive features.

RE: UltraVNC

Yes, but for now we are not going to publish it. You can take a look the following post, which has list of features already implemented in 3.0 branch:
http://www.s-code.com/forum/shwmessage.aspx?ForumID=1&MessageID=143

I think the features list will be available when we release a v3.0 beta.

RE: UltraVNC

Do you have a list of the new features that 3.0 will have in it?

RE: UltraVNC

No that's not a typo. In fact we are not planning but already supporting UltraVNC chat it in v3.0 code base.

I'm not certain about DSM plug-in though. It may or may not be included in this release.

RE: UltraVNC

In your most recent version announcement, it says you are planning to support the chat feature in 3.0. I hope that's not a typo! The chat feature would be awesome! (like, totally. Been playing GTA: Vice City too much. 80s flashbacks)

What about the encryption plugin for ultravnc? I had asked in the php forums about that, and you said that was something you would probably be adding in 2.5 or 3. Is that still on track? That would be a guaranteed sale for us. Not that I mean to nag, but I've noticed your changes seem to be largely customer-request driven, so, you know... wanna keep it in the forefront of your mind as our #1 request, for what it's worth.

Thanks for the great product!

RE: UltraVNC

I don't think that it will be supported ever. Because we felt that there are too many IM/chat clients are available.
But we have been asked so many times about this feature that seems like it will be included in 2.5.x or in 3.0 release.

Pushing web pages requires modifications in VNC server code too. Until we start shipping some modified VNC server edition (actually we have some plans to do it) this feature won't be included in VNC Manager.
