The v5.0 offers by far the best VNC Thumbnails view implementation available today.
One of the most frequent feature requests that we are hearing is to ability to resize VNC thumbnail items larger than 256x256 pixels. The reason for the 256x256 limitation in the v5.0 implementation is because the VNC thumbnails view is based on the Windows ListView control, which cannot show icons larger than 256x256.

Another popular request is ability to 100+ items with reasonable CPU usage. Both of these requests are going to be addressed in the next 5.5.5.0 build. We are in process of rewriting VNC thumbnails view from scratch. Windows ListView control has been replaced by our own in-house build component. So the 256x256 limitation is going to be thing of the past. For now we are going artificially limit the maximum size of the VNC Thumbnails View items to 512x512. But depending on the customers feedback this number could be increased.

With regards of the reduced CPU usage, this has been addressed as well. The screenshot below show the new VNC thumbnails view with more than 120 items added. In the CPU usage as shown on the screenshot is only around 15-20%. How cool is that?!

When the v5.5.5.0 releases next week we would be really interested to hear what you think about our new VNC Thumbnails View Gen 2.
RE: VNC Thumbnails View Gen 2
Another question for the thumbnails (performed on 5.5.9 RC) . Under every thumbnail the name is mentioned. But this is the name that was given when the thumbnail was created. If the name of the computer (in the registered computers) has changed, then this change is not reflected in the thumbnail view. The user has to delete all thumnails from which the name was changed and add them once again to the correct Thumbnail group.
Maybe an option could be added to "automaticaly update the computer names" in the Thumbnail view. Of course you'll have to look how to identify this change since you cannot do it on IPaddress when multiple views are used.
Thank you for the suggestion! I'll add it to the feature requests list.
PS: To be honest most probably it won't make it to the 5.5 RTM. By I'm sure this could be added in one of the post-RTM 5.5.X builds.

RE: VNC Thumbnails View Gen 2

Thanks, the "multiple views of 1 IP address" works fine. I think you did a good choise of giving a message by default. That''s even better than in 5.0.x Thanks

Another question for the thumbnails (performed on 5.5.9 RC) . But I understand your reasoning. So here is what we going to do in the 5.5.8.0 - if you'd attempt to add an item to the VNC Thumbnails view and the view is already has an item with the same IP address, the VNC Manager will prompt you whether or not you would want to add such item. How does it sound for you?
UPDATE: The above mentioned change has been implemented in the 5.5.8.0

RE: VNC Thumbnails View Gen 2

Dear sirs,
I just installed 5.5.7.0 (coming from 5.0.x)
In the thumbnail views I used to have several thumbnails form the same computer (PC1, PC1copy, PC1copy2, PC2, PC2copy1,...) in 1 "VNC Thumnails view TAB". That way I had a screen filled with about 20 thumbnails, who actually were only 4 PC's.
In 5.5 it only shows 4 PC's (also the count below is 4). So it seems to me that in the same TAB it is not more possible to have several VNC-views from the same IP address. If I make a second TAB then i can put a PFC in every TAB? but only once per TAB.
I would consider this being a bug.
What' is your vision?

PS : I know it is (or it seems) useless to have several thumbnails of 1 PC on your TAB. But imagine you have 1 PC that is 20 times on a thumbnail TAB, and that you have a Thumbnail refresh every 800 seconds, then you can follow the "history" of the PC.

RE: VNC Thumbnails View Gen 2

I believe it said 1. I needed to use the thumbnails, so i removed the latest version and got back to 5.5.3.

I will try to install the new one on my laptop, and will confirm this for you.

Thanks

RE: VNC Thumbnails View Gen 2

it sounds like a bug. Is this a bug?

Example: I have under My registered computers, 3 different folders. One of the folders has 3 registered computers all with VNC connection setup. When I try to add more then one comp to default thumbnails nothing happens. 1 computer goes up but others do not show in thumbnails.

Thanks
