The computer name can be in any form: ip adress, hostname, etc.

What worries me that v3.5.18.0 fixes RDP connection SSH forwarding crash bug reported here

and I'm wondering if these two are related.

Could you describe what is exactly happening, are you getting any crashes or you just start RDP viewer and it closes?

I have the 3.5.18 build and am using SSH tunneling for a number of connections. The VNC connections are fine, however the RDP connections just close out.
What format should the computername be in? Should it be hostname or the external dns addres?

Most probably it will stay the way it's now - only VNC/RDP/VMRC/(VMware in v4.0 perhaps) connections will support SSH port forwarding.

This is because other management features in VNC Manager use WMI API, which in turn uses RPC for remote communications and I've never heard about RPC been wrapped inside of SSH tunnel. This is due how to RPC designed it makes such task pretty much impossible to implement.

I've gotten OpenSSH running on a number of my client servers. Very nice, it's not that noticeable between the SSH tunneled connection and a straight non-encrypted VNC connection.

One question though, I was under the (probably mistaken) impression that since I would be connecting through SSH, I would have more options available to me. For instance, it would be great to be able to get the logged on user or computer inventory options via this SSH tunnel.

Is there no way to accomplish this?

I would recommend you give a try to Vandyke VShell SSH Server http://www.vandyke.com/. It's commercial software, but it worth its price tag. I've been using it for like 5 years already and very satisfied with it.

And I think I should ask Vandyke for some commission fee, since I've recommended their product to so many people already :)

I'm very interested in implementing the SSH method for connecting, however do you have a SSH server utility which you could recommend for the Windows Platform? I have looked at copSSH and OpenSSH, but it's kind of kludgy...

We thought some of you might be interested on how SSH tunneling support is going to look like in v3.0.

ssh_prop.png - is how the SSH tunneling property page is looks like. It's the same for both VNC and RDP connections.

ssh_viewer.png - VNC Manager's viewer is showing the progress message while establishing connection to a remote SSH server.

Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.
