I am using the latest ultra repackage and here is the problem. Even if I force quit the application and relaunch it, it continues to try to restore the thumbnails view from the previous session resulting in a lockup loop. The only fix is to go into the users profile and delete everything at AppData\Roaming\SmartCode Solutions and start from scratch. I am using a win7 machine if that makes a difference. Also, the computers are set to automatically log in using default windows log on credentials. To be honest with you guys, thumbnails hasn't worked properly for me since the older 4.x versions. Everything else seems to work ok. Let me know if you need any additional info and I will be happy to supply it. Thanks

RE: Manager lockes up in thumbnail view

Oh and I am also now getting an error popup that says "Too many security Failures" As soon as all of them clear it seems to loosen up a bit. Nothing relevant in the event logs.

RE: Manager lockes up in thumbnail view

THat didn't seem to help. Much less laggy. I tested it on a lab of 30 with no users logged in. I will test it a bit more tomorrow when some students are in the labs. Thanks a bunch!

RE: Manager lockes up in thumbnail view

Tomorrow we will be releasing v5.5.2.0 CTP build. This build includes new VNC client component. This component is also used by the thumbnails view. There are several nasty bugs that have been fixed in the updated VNC component. It also uses less CPU% comparing to the previous version.

I would appreciate if you could give a try to this build when it releases and report back to us if it works any better for you.

RE: Manager lockes up in thumbnail view

Sorry for the long delay in response.. I made the changes you requested and it did not seem to help. The thumbnails screen is still running extremely slow. If I click on one of the computers it takes the better part of a minuet to respond. Thanks for the tip on which file to delete. That helps alot. It seems to only happen if I add more then 6 computers to thumbnail. The CPU percentage i near 65% at times and memory is about 60000K. Not sure if that helps. If there is nobody loged into/using the computers it works fine. I can add 30-50 computers to the screen with no problem if nobody is logged in/using the computers. Maybe it is the one bad apple spoiling the bunch scenario? Thanks for the help so far..

RE: Manager lockes up in thumbnail view

Hi,
We are investigating a report from anther user that the Thumbnails uses way to much of CPU% and I'm wondering if the problems you are having are due to high CPU% also.
Please run a simple test:
1) Add three computers to the thumbnails view
2) On the computers that has been added, run Windows Media player and open c:\windows\clock.avi. Let it run in a loop. Maximize the Windows Media Player window
3) Open the Task Manager on the computer with the VNC Manager

I'm interested to know how what CPU% usage by the VNC Manager process you will be seeing.

Also please change the encoding used from Tight to ZlibHex. The easiest way to do it is to open Tools->Options->Thumbnails View->VNC Thumbnails. Check the "Use default connection settings" checkbox. Then click on the Edit Settings button and change the encoding.

Does it make any difference CPU% wise?

PS: You don't need to delete all the files under the SmartCode Solutions\VNC Manager, just delete the vnc_thumbnailview.xml file.
