Hello, long time no see. I wonder if you remember me?

Anyways, here is input on the latest VNC Manager. I really like how the program has grown.

1) BUG: Installer fails. Perhaps its becuase I have Vista x64. The EXE runs, extracts the MSI and then closes with no errors. The program is not installed and no errors are in the event log.

I was able to search the temps for the msi extracted for VNC Mananger. I ran that msi and it installed fine.

2) BUG: Within a minute or so the first time I connect by RDP to any PC, the session disconnects itself. I can reconnect to the existing session easily, and it seems never to happen again.

3) Active Directory integration ROCKS. REQUEST: Please create a setting to store Default NT Login Credentials per Computer Group that is used for all tasks that use nt logons (event viewer, device manager, etc.)

I know it stores templates. All all that does is add 3 more clicks instead of typing my password myself with a keyboard. Much more, if I run an action on several computers, it asks me to type the same credentials for each one!

I would like it to use a chosen template that I set on a Computer Group. It would then be used by default for all actions that require NT logins on all computers inside that group.

This way I don't type in the same password or make the same 3 or 4 clicks 1 hundred times...

Also as a subnote: On the window that asks for the credentials, I would like to see some notes when authentication fails (I type in a bad password or something). As now, all it does is close and reopen, close and reopen, not saying why. I kept typing in the same username and password 10 times before I realized it wasn't accepting what I was typing. A simple, 'Access Denied, check login' would let me know why the window kept comming back up. Or 'Remote computer not responding.' may happen at times.

Hi folks,

UltraVNC 1.04 is due for final release in the coming weeks. Will it be included in VNC Manager when it's released?

You could even include 1.04 RC14 in the next beta of VNC Manager if you'e feeling generous :)

What's the best solution for a rollout of UltraVNC on Vista at the moment - install 1.04 manually :sick:?, or is there a way to get 1.02 working for the moment until 1.04 is integrated?

Old vnc 3.x registration info not working

I installed 4.0.7 vnc manager beta, and it is asking me to register again, can't put the old info in for when purchased it originally version 3.x. This was originally an issue when going to the first 4.0 beta version, then i guess you guys fixed it, are you aware of this, and will there be a fix soon, thanks.

I'm using this program 4 days. For sure is a must if someone has to support 100... pc's/servers.

I'll try to report both bugs and what I believe is missing as a feature. Things are simple if someone has to deal with a workgroup or a domain, but supporting different customers with workgroups, domains, and installations all over a country is a complicate task.

My personal opinion is that if `VNC MANAGER` expanded to a general remote administration and inventory tool will succeed worldwide.

Examples.

Network printers or print servers usually administered with http or Telnet. You already start implement http, maybe telnet is a useful option also.

Routers with ssh connection.

Simple hardware automatic inventory.

Concerning inventory contact details, integration with outlook or at least the ability to import data from a csv/text or similar file will be an asset.

There is an option to export Register computers to a file but NOT the opposite, import from a file. This is very useful if some one had to transfer from another site, ex customer site with VNC MANAGER, the registered computers to his local machine. This will be profitable for you also, cause if I can do that I’ll convince my customer to buy VNC MANAGER also.

Bug's

Function MOVE to Group when used from dynamic search folders calls the copy function.

This means that if you try to move a computer from one registered group to another works fine,

but from search folders just call's the copy function.

What changes / features do you expect to make in the beta version. I do note the ssh key addition which I dearly love and thank you. Still looking for the ssh terminal client though.

Messaging Request

Anyway to implement chat or messaging another way besides ms messenger? by default we typically turn off the ms messenger service off, it would be nice to have something that is tightvnc specific in the app to use for messaging between clients and server. Just an idea.

Also, user defined keyboard shortcut keys like ms office apps have, to customize your most frequently used menu commands would be great and very useful. I'm always opening up the computer tasks, open network share, c drive, would be nice to program a shortcut key that i want for that one and others.

Bug with 4.0.4

Nobody responded to my first post about this (#1937?), so I ask again with updated info:

I can't seem to connect to more than 15 workstations in Thumbnail view. In ver.3.x, I had no problem connecting and seeing all 27 workstations in my lab. Now in ver. 4.0.4, I place (Ctrl-T) all 27 in Thumbnail view and only the first 15 can connect. The remain 12 remain disconnected. When I clear out this view and then place only those 12 in Thumbnail view, they connect, so I don't think it's specifically related to those machines. It just wants to connect whatever first 15 machines are in the list.

Can anyone help me???

Clicking off RDP Tab makes it view only

I've noticed that it's still that if you click off the tab of a RDP session, when you click back in all you get is a ding sound and it's now view only.

I guess I forgot in the last post, bigger size options for thumbnails would be nice too. 256 just doesn't do a 2580x1024 screen much justice.

VNC Taskbar Icon Change

If I deploy using the new 4.x beta, deploying the smartVNC code, the icon changed from the familiar VNC icon in the windows taskbar to a big green eye. This will prompt support calls!

I have read we cannot set the icon to be invisible on previous versions. I would really like to do that first of all. Secondly, if we cannot hind the taskbar icon, can we keep it the same VNC icon when deploying the VNC software?

Has the default VNC code from the deployment wizard changed hence the icon change?

Installed 4.0 Beta and I'm very pissed

I've been using VNC Manager for a few years now and love it. I manage over 500 computers all organized in various groups.

Here is the problem, I installed the 4.0 beta and now all my previously registered computers and groups are gone !!!!

How do I get them back?

I can't let VNC Manager rediscover them all. I work on about 30 networks all over the world, most I connect to by VPN.

Hi,

In this version I have found that the remote desktop screen keeps locking up. I can click on any of the tools down the left hand side but the remote desktop screen is locked up. I am running Vista Business x86 edition.

I've been trialing VNC Manager for a few days and really like it and find it useful. I'll be purchasing it.

There are a few usability problems that I would like to address:

1) From Computer Manager or Thumbnail view, I would like to be able to Connect to a VNC server in a Window, rather than a Tab.

2) If I have a server open in a Tab, I would like to see a small <x> to close it next to the computer name, just like in Internet Explorer.

3) From a Server Tab, It takes way too much mouse movement to get back to a Thumbnail view. How about putting the Thumbnail View Tab next to Computer Manager, rather than at the bottom of the screen. Also a hotkey to the Thumbnail view.

4) When I have a VNC tab, named XYZ, and make it a seperate window, then make it a tab, the tab name changes to the IP address.

Interesting behavior beta 4.0.20 and 4.0.30. No keyboard and mouse input

Here is the situation. Launch VNC Manager. I can open an RDP session and spend all day in that session without a problem. If I launch a second session session I can send all day in that session. Once I switch away from a session I no longer seem to have keyboard/mouse access to that session. The video is still active because I can watch the screensaver activate. I have found that I can reactivate the keyboard and mouse by selecting "Separate Window". Keyboard and mouse now work. If I reattach the Window all still work and I can move back and forth between sessions.

I don't have a copy of beta 1 (first version) so I don't have a way to test this against my current install but I did not experience this until the update to 4.0.20. Installed 4.0.30 today and no change.

I'm not sure what I can do here for troubleshooting. Let me know what I can do to help. I would like to try the first beta to see if this is something new.

Is there anywhere on the website where I can see the all the features that will (are going to be) included in version 4. As I cannot believe the the following are the only changes.

Forgot to mention a BIG BIG thank you for adding password encryption. I do think however that it won't satisfy corporate security concerns unless the whole configuration file were encrypted. I think there is just too much information the could be read and or altered.
