I have over 200 Registered devices and it makes it very hard to remember where some servers are located.  A filtering or search option should be available to enable finding the device.

A perfect example of how to do this is in Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager's management console and how you can select the branch in the left navigation tree and then enter a string to filter on that will show only those matching devices in the right pane.  Perfect solution here.

Thank you.

Hi Ryan,
thank you for suggestion. I haven't seen Microsoft System Center yet, so I'll gonna have look on it. Have you tried to use the Quick Filter feature in the VNC Manager? It seems from what you describe that the quick filter is similar to how the search in the MSC works.

Could you please post as screenshot of MSC and its search feature?

I didn't even know the Quick Filter was there! Very nice, but not quite what we need. As Ryan stated, when we have hundredes of devices, we don't always know where (under which folder or subfolder) the device we are looking for is located. One nice thing about the Quick Filter, it filters by logged on username as well! Now if you could have an ability to Quick Filter on subfolders (maybe a checkbox next to Quick Filter that says seach subfolders) this would be just FANTASTIC!!! I could instantly find any PC/server/device that I manage by computer name or logged in username instantly!!!! A huge gain in usability!

Subfolders filtering certainly looks like a nice feature to have. We will see what can be done about it Smile

Just checking to see if it looks like subfolder filtering will make it for 5.0?

Hi Jared,
at this time I'm cannot say for sure whether or not it will make it in the final 5.0. Personally I would really love to see this feature included in the v5.0.

I'll post here when I have any updates with regards of this feature.

Here is a screenshot of System Center Virtual Machine Manager where I have entered the text "ATO" in the filter box and did not select one of the narrowing options to search on (leaving the filter to search all fields with "ATO").

On the left, I can select the folder level (top level selected) and in the body pane, the results of the filter are shown.  This is real-time updated as I type, requring no 'search' button nor is it limited to the current folder.  This is very important when dealing with 100's of computers.

As always, thanks for a great product and continuing development.

I see the quick filter now.... this is a great start... only needs the ability to include subfolders!  Thank you.
