Hi,

Because of the ultra handy dandy MS Authentication feature of UltraVNC, we switched all of our workstations over to it. Now that we've had a few weeks to test it, it seems incredibly unstable with VNC Manager. Whenever you view a machine using it, its fine for a minute or so then it stops updating the viewer. Sometimes requesting a full screen refresh will make it respond again but more often than not it crashes VNC Manager with a C++ runtime error. However, on the VNC server itself all is fine, the machine works on without a hitch.

It doesn't seem to happen when you use the standard UltraVNC Viewer. I was wondering if anyone else was having a similar problem? Its getting to the point where I feel I'm going to have to revert to using TightVNC or RealVNC which is a PITA because we have at least 12 people who want to use this and having to tell them all the passwords is an annoyance.

Hi,
should try is to change VNC encoding used by the viewer. By default it uses ZLIB and it's known to have problems when working with UltraVNC server. Try to change it to ZlibHex, Tight, or to Hextile if connection to the VNC server is fast.
This can be done via Registered Server properties -> VNC Options -> Settings -> Preffered Encoding.

Due to this problem with Zlib, next version 3.1 is going to use ZlibHex encoding by default.

Kindest Regards,
